Vikings Resume Fall Schedule at Eastern Kentucky Intercollegiate

TOURNAMENT PREVIEW

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland State men's golf team resumes its fall schedule as it will compete in the Eastern Kentucky Intercollegiate. The tournament will begin on Saturday (Sept. 14) on the University Club at Arlington course.

This will mark the fourth year that the tournament has been played and the Vikings have appeared in all three of the previous tournaments. Cleveland State's top finish in the event came during the 2016-17 season when the Vikings finished third out of 18 teams.

Last season, Cleveland State placed ninth out of 15 teams and Zach Robbins tied for 13th overall to lead the Vikings.

Twelve teams will be competing in this year's tournament. Participants include: Eastern Kentucky, Ohio, Morehead State, Murray State, Tennessee-Martin, Northern Kentucky, Evansville, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, Bowling Green State, and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
 
The first 36-holes of play will begin on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. Sunday's final round will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
 
The University Club at Arlington is a 200 acre, 18-hole course and will play to a par-of 70 at 6,623 yards over the two-day tournament.

This will mark the Vikings third tournament of the season having participated in the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate and the Joe Faeganes Invitational. Through two tournaments Robbins leads the Vikings with a 72.2 scoring average, while Jack Hanus has a 73.3 stroke average.

Jules Blakely has participated in all six rounds this season and has a 74.7 average, while Gunnar McCollins has a 74.8 average in his six rounds of play.

David Laib is averaging 79.0 this season and Jonny Filler is averaging 81.5 strokes per round.
