Cleveland State Looks to Finish Fall Strong at Dayton

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State University men's golf team will look to close the fall season on a positive note at the Dayton Flyer Invitational Oct. 15-16.

The 54-hole tournament will be played at the NCR Country Club's South Course in Kettering, Ohio, a par-71, 7,100-yard layout. Play will begin at 9:00 a.m. Monday and Tuesday with shotgun starts both days with 36 holes Monday and 18 Tuesday. This is the 10th consecutive year that Dayton has hosted a fall tournament and the fourth time the Vikings have taken part. CSU finished sixth of 11 teams in closing its fall campaign at the event last year with a cumulative score of 882. Senior Anton Krecic shot 72-73-74 at last year's event to finish among the top 10 while sophomore Zak Supelak was among the top 15 with a cumulative score of 220.

This year's field features 12 teams: Bradley, Bowling Green, Cleveland State, Davidson, Dayton, DePaul, Illinois State, Marshall, Northern Kentucky, Oakland, Purdue Fort Wayne and Wright State.

Cleveland State finished third of 11 teams last time out as it hosted the Tom Tontimonia Invitational. The Vikings' score of 874 was only five shots behind tournament champion Dayton.

Sophomore Zach Robbins posted back-to-back rounds in the 60's to close play at CSU's home event. He finished at -3 for the tournament in a tie for second place. His second-round 66 was the lowest round by a Viking in over two years. Robbins is averaging 73.9 strokes per round this season.

Supelak joined Robbins in earning his first collegiate top-10 finish last time out. Supelak was under par in each of his opening two rounds and finished the event at +3, tying for seventh. He leads the team in scoring average (73.7) and rounds at par or better (4).

Cleveland State has a 295.3 team scoring average entering the fifth and final event of its fall season.
