Men's Golf in Third Place After First Day of CSU Invitational

AURORA, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's golf team shot rounds of 280 and 293 and is in third place out of 11 teams after the first day of the CSU Invitational that began on Monday at the par-72, 7,049-yard Barrington CC.

INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS
• Senior Patrick Luth shot a first round six-under-par 66 and carded a two-under-par 70 in the second round. He is in fourth place with a 136 total.
• Luth has now shot par or better in nine of his 11 rounds this fall.
• Sophomore Anton Krecic posted a 36 hole total of one-under-par 143 and is tied for 15th place. He opened the day with a 71 and fired an even-par 72 in the afternoon.
• Sophomore Nick Infanti shot a one-under-par 71 in the first round, while juniors Joey Krecic and Blake Prince carded even-par 72's in the morning round.
• CSU ranked second in the field with a 2.88 average on the par-three's, playing them in five-under-par. The Vikings were also second with 34 birdies. 

FORE THINGS TO KNOW
• The Vikings shot a first round eight-under-par 280 and were in second place after the first round.
• CSU shot a 293 in the afternoon round and will enter Tuesday's final round in third place. Kent State, which is ranked 18th in the nation, shot a 36-hole total of 541 and leads the field. Longwood is in second place at 566, seven shots ahead of CSU. Oakland is in fourth place at 574, while Malone, Appalachian State and Robert Morris are tied for fifth at 580.
• Luth's opening round 66 was a career-low round and tied for the fourth lowest in school history. He made four birdies on the front nine and two more on the back nine to shoot six-under-par.
• Luth made 11 birdies over the two rounds today, tied for the fourth most in the field. Anton Krecic recorded nine birdies today, tied for the ninth most in the field.

UP NEXT
The Vikings conclude play in the CSU Invitational with the final round on Tuesday (Oct. 4). Teams will tee off at 9:00 am.
