Vikings Open Play at CSU Invitational

AURORA, Ohio - Cleveland State's Pat Luth shot rounds of 70 and 73 and is tied for fifth place and the Vikings are in eighth place overall after the opening two rounds of the CSU Invitational that began on Monday.

The 54-hole event is being played at the par-72, 7,049-yard Barrington C.C.

The Vikings opened the tournament with a 292 and followed with a 299 in the afternoon session.

Luth was tied for third place overall after his first round two-under-par 70 and will enter the final round in a tie for fifth place, just two shots behind co-leaders Nickolas Scott of Wright State and Andrew Furr of Appalachian State who are tied at 141.

Michael Balcar followed a first round even-par 72 with a 76 and is tied for 23rd place at 148, while Joey Krecic and Paul Minko both shot rounds of 75-76 and are tied for 37th place.

Appalachian State used a second round 286 to move into first place in the team standings at 579 (293-286), one shot ahead of Youngstown State (293-287 - 580) and two shots ahead of third place Wright State (287-294 - 581).

The final round of the event will be played on Tuesday (Sept. 30) with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.
