CSU Tied for Eighth After First Round of UC Bearcat Invitational

HEBRON, Ky. - Following a two-hour frost delay this morning, the Cleveland State men's golf team went out and carded an opening round 297 and is tied for eighth of 13 teams after the first round of the UC Bearcat Invitational.

The 54-hole event is being played at the par-71, 6,855-yard Traditions G.C.

The field began the second round immediately at the conclusion of the opening round, but play will be suspended at 7:00 p.m. due to darkness. Teams will restart their second round at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday and once the remaining holes from round two are complete, third round action will begin.

Andrew Bailey fired CSU's low round with a 72 and is tied for 10th place, while Jon Riemer and Michael Balcar are tied for 18th place, one shot back after rounds of 73.

Michael Klaric shot a first round 79 and is tied for 58th place, while Mike Bishop is tied for 64th after an 81.

Belmont holds the lead after the first round at 287, just one shot ahead of Northern Kentucky. Austin Peay is in third place (292) and is followed by Youngstown State and Eastern Kentucky who are tied for fourth place at 294. Cincinnati and Marshall are tied for sixth place (296), while CSU, Dayton and Wright State are all one shot back.

Morehead State is in 11th place at 301, while Detroit (302) and Cincinnati "B" (315) round out the field.

The UC Bearcat Invitational is the final fall event of the year for the Vikings.
