HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - Cleveland State shot an opening round 300 and is in second place after one day of the Horizon League Championship in a tightly grouped leaderboard.

The league championship is being played at the par-72, 6,770-yard Mission Inn Resort.

Loyola holds the lead after day one, just one shot ahead of CSU, while Valparaiso is in third place at 301. Green Bay is fourth (304) and is followed by Detroit (311), Youngstown State (312) and Wright State (317) as just 18 shots separate the leader from seventh place.

Junior Andrew Bailey, who last night was named the Horizon League Player of the Year for the second straight season, is the individual leader following an opening round two-under-par 70. Bailey was the lone player to break par on Friday with Loyola's Nick Dennis and Valparaiso's Thomas Wettstein tied for second at even-par 72.
