CLEVELAND - Mike Garland, who compiled a 23-60 record in three seasons at Cleveland State, will not return next year as head coach of the Vikings. CSU Director of Athletics Lee Reed made the announcement on Friday (March 31).

The details of Garland's departure will be finalized shortly. A search for his successor will begin immediately.

"I want to thank Mike for the three years of service that he gave to Cleveland State University," Director of Athletics Lee Reed said. "His hard work has helped elevate the program through a very difficult period and put it into a position to find success down the road."

Garland was hired as the 13th head coach in Viking basketball history on April 17, 2003 after serving as an assistant coach at Michigan State University for the previous seven seasons.

The Vikings will return all five starters and a total of 10 lettermen next fall from the 2005-06 squad that posted a 10-18 record and finished in eighth place in the Horizon League with a 5-11 mark.
