CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Cleveland State's regular season men's basketball finale against UW-Green Bay on Saturday (Feb. 25) became a little more special on Friday when the Cleveland City Council officially declared the day to be "CSU Basketball Day".

The Council acted on the proclamation written by Viking basketball alumnus and Council President Martin J. Sweeney in order to celebrate the final home game of the 75th season of basketball at CSU and Fenn College.

"This weekend will be a celebration of the conclusion of the 75th season of basketball at Cleveland State and the council's proclamation will help to put an exclamation point on the festivities," CSU athletic director Lee Reed said.

Several activities are planned around the UW-Green Bay game as over 60 former Viking basketball players and coaches are scheduled to return to the downtown campus for the game.

The day will begin with a 3:00 p.m. alumni game in the Wolstein Center with approximately 25 former players expected to play. Fans wishing to attend the contest can enter the Wolstein Center through Gate A, but will need a ticket for the UW-Green Bay game.

The Viking alumni will then be honored during a halftime ceremony. The alumni who are scheduled to return include former head coaches Jim Rodriguez (1959-66), Ray Dieringer (1969-83) and Kevin Mackey (1983-90), All-American Franklin Edwards and CSU Athletic Hall of Fame inductees Dan Avis, Shawn Hood, Dave Kyle, Ken McFadden, Eric Mudd and Mike Sweeney.

Tickets for the contest are available through all TicketMaster outlets or at the Wolstein Center Box office.
