Theo Dixon Earns Horizon League Honor

Feb. 4, 2002

Cleveland State's Theo Dixon from Cleveland Heights, Ohio, has been named the Horizon League Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games from Jan. 28 through Feb. 3, the league office has announced.

Last week, Dixon turned in a pair of solid performance to lead CSU to victories over Loyola and Illinois-Chicago. The senior averaged 21.0 ppg for the two games while shooting 52 percent from the field and 87.5 percent from the line.

Against the Ramblers last Thursday, the 6-6 swingman shared game honors with seven rebounds while scoring 22 points and equalling a career high with four steals. Dixon connected on 8-of-15 floor shots and 5-of-6 free throw attempts in that game.

In the first half against UIC Saturday, Dixon helped the Vikes to a 10-point halftime lead by scoring 10 points and grabbing three rebounds despite being limited to nine minutes of play due to foul trouble. A 79 percent free throw shooter, Dixon dropped in 9-of-10 freebies against UIC and finished with 20 points. He also added a block.

Dixon and the Vikings return to action on the road this week when they travel to Wright State on Thursday to take on the Raiders in a Horizon League contest. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
