Recap | Final Stats | Notes
Cleveland State Head Coach Gary Waters:
"We know this is a process. We didn't shoot the ball well today. We shoot a lot of three's and didn't make many. We fouled to many times today and a lot were unnecessary. We did take care of the ball which I liked."
"Norris' play today was tremendous. He controlled the offense and he scored some points and that shows that good things are ahead for him if he can continue to do those two things. He took control of the game out there and played the best that I have ever seen him play this year. Not only did he play well offensively, but he defended against their best player. But we can't win against the big boys with Norris scoring 38."
"We wanted to get better defensively in the half court and we're still not there yet. Like I told them in the locker room, we didn't play well at all and we still won by 14. The more we keep playing, the better we will become."
"Jared (Cunningham) is our best three-point shooter and that will come as the season goes on because he has to understand when to take the shot. And once he understands that, he is going to hit some more big three's."
"Once Aaron (Pogue) gets polished, he'll be able to show you more. He hasn't played for two years. He has to learn how to play the game, but also get his confidence back. He's been away from it to long and doesn't have the feel. It's a confidence thing right now."
Cleveland State's Norris Cole:
"I took it as it came. I wanted to have the offense under control and take what the defense gave me. The shot was falling today and my teammates were coming to me and the shots were falling tonight."
"Our goal is to get better every day. We are getting better on things each day, even if its little because it will pay off in the long run."
"Aaron (Pogue) can dominate the paint. If he is doing good, I think our team can be successful because he is that piece that we need inside. This was only his third college game because he had to redshirt last year and once he gets into game shape, he can be that dominant big man that we need."
Florida A&M Head Coach Eugene Harris:
"Cleveland State is a well coached team. It is a team that Gary (Waters) has to rebuild from last year's NCAA team, but is a team with some experience. They have a very good guard who played well. Norris (Cole) is a very good player. He made some good baskets on a quick stepback and has a nice touch. From a coaching standpoint, watching it was kind of exciting to see him shoot the ball like he shot it."
"We got hurt early in the game and got outrebounded in the first half and that hurt us early on. But I enjoyed playing this game and I know our players did because they had to work to get everything they got and it will only help us as we move on this season."
"They were more physical then us and Gary has this team well prepared. We are going to get better and I am excited about my team because they didn't quit. They showed character until the end and they are going to be a better team at the end of the year."
