UW-Green Bay 76, Cleveland State 72

Feb. 25, 2006

Recap |  Box Score |  Notes

Cleveland State Head Coach Mike Garland: "Tonight was the story of our season, a series here, a series there, a possession here, a possession there, but give Green Bay credit they shot the ball extremely well and made plays when we didn't and that is what you have to do. I thought we played extremely hard but at this time of year with what is on the line you have to play under control and play better. We've got to learn to make better decisions, understanding time, score and possession, we've gotten better at it but when we've had to change the flow of our game, the very same thing which got us into the game, hurt us."

"We pressured them and got the lead and then when we backed it off we started to gamble on plays and left them open for uncontested shots and it was because they caught us in a state of rotation because someone tried to reach over or someone tried go for a steal. Now that guy has to help on his man and boom boom they get you in a triangle and score the basket on us. It's a travesty that we continue to make those kind of mistakes."

(On the Vikings playing better on the road) "Well, that is something I hate to admit to, I can't really put a finger on what it is but we have played some of our better basketball on the road and hopefully on Tuesday night we will come up with one of those efforts and make our way to Milwaukee."

Cleveland State J'Nathan Bullock: (On the struggles at home this season) "It is all mental, we think we can't win at home so we don't. It is from a perspective, I'm not saying we're actually going out there thinking we're about to lose but it just seems like that is the big deal around here, we can't win at home."

"You can't be satisfied unless you win the game."

UW-Green Bay Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk: "This is one of our best wins of the year and I say that because I think it is important for our young team to finish on a high note and especially against a team that defends so well."

"I think Mike's (Garland) team is the best defensive team in our league, they come at you for forty minutes, got great ball pressure and really have given us problems over the past few years."

"This is as big of a win as we have had in a long time and I really believe that."
