MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Trey Harmon scored a career-high 27 points, but Milwaukee's Tony Meier hit a pair of free throws with 1.1 seconds left after CSU was whistled for a foul on a three-point attempt and the Vikings fell at Milwaukee, 86-84, on Tuesday night.

The loss drops CSU to 20-7 overall and 10-5 in league play, while UWM improved to 16-12 overall and 9-7 in the Horizon League.

Harmon hit 8-of-14 from the field, besting his old career-high of 24 points. Jeremy Montgomery added 15 points, while Charlie Lee scored 14, making all five of his shots from the floor in his first game in his hometown. Anton Grady added 10 points and five rebounds.

The Vikings battled back from a 15 point deficit (76-61) with 7:51 to play, knotting the contest at 84-84 on Montgomery's floater in the lane after a Grady steal.

The Panthers got the ball back and missed a shot and two tips, but the ball was batted out of bounds by CSU last and Milwaukee retained possession with 1.9 seconds on the clock.

The ball was inbounded to Meier on the left wing and he hoisted a desperation three-pointer and CSU was called for a foul.

Meier hit the first two free throws before missing the last and Grady's final heave was short.

Meier's free throws helped the Panthers go 33-of-44 from the line. CSU went 20-of-24.

Both teams struggled from the field over the weekend in losing two games, but you could not tell during the first 20 minutes as both teams shot extremely well from the floor as the Panthers took a 50-41 lead at the break.

CSU hit 15-of-23 (.652) from the floor, including 6-of-11 (.545) from three-point. Milwaukee was equally impressive, going 13-of-24 (.542) from the field and 8-of-14 (.571) from three-point.

But it was at the charity stripe where the Panthers were able to build their nine-point lead, hitting 16-of-19, compared to 5-of-8 for the Vikings.

Harmon hit back-to-back three-pointers in the early minutes to give CSU a quick 6-1 lead, but James Haarsma answered with a pair of three-pointers of his own, giving the Panthers a 7-6 lead.

The teams continued to trade baskets back and forth with the first 20 minutes featuring 12 lead changes. The final one came when Kaylon Williams hit a pair of free throws with 7:35 left, breaking a 27-27 tie. The free throws started a 16-6 Panther run, giving UWM a 43-33 lead with 3:23 to play.

The Panthers hit two three-pointers in the run, while six points also came at the free throw line.

The Vikings used back-to-back three-pointers from Marlin Mason and Tim Kamczyc to pull back within four (43-39), but a Shaquille Boga layup and Tony Meier three extended the Panther lead back to nine (48-39) with 1:33 left.

The Vikings shot .609 (28-46) from the field, including 13-of-23 (.565) from three-point.

CSU is back in action on Saturday (Feb. 18) when the Vikings host Drexel and 11:00 a.m. in the Wolstein Center in a BracketBusters contest. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU.
