Post Game Quotes

Cleveland State Head Coach Mike Garland
"They did a great job tonight of taking us out of what we have been doing the last few games. I was proud of the way our team was able to pull themselves together and get back in the ball game. Once the game became very physical, they threw the first punch and hit us on the chin and knocked us back a little bit. And what happens then is that the aggressor gets all the calls and the momentum starts to swing their way. It just took us too long to be able to deliver some of those punches back. And that hurt us."

"It's another page in the book of the process of building this program, and it's something that we have to learn from. We were playing the second best team in the conference who was playing in a must-win situation. I dont know that we fully understood how they would come to play. I think we realized in the second half that, without that little bit extra, it was going to be tough."

On the play of Walt Chavis: "There's no doubt he's been a big part of it, both on offense and defense. He's a great passer. He delivers the ball to the people that he needs to, but tonight, there just weren't the lanes we needed to get the ball to our shooters."

Cleveland State forward Omari Westley: "I wasn't finding the open man tonight, and that forced a lot of turnovers. That's very unlike me, and I think that's part of why we ended up on the short end. We had a whole week to prepare for what they were going to do. We were focused for 40 minutes defensively. Offensively, it's been give or take. We rely on our defense to get us wins, but tonight, we had trouble stopping their shots"

Cleveland State guard Walt Chavis: "We didn't come out with any energy in the second half. We came out flat, and any time you do that, you run the risk of giving up the lead. We just didn't get down and play hard on defense like we usually do."

Cleveland State forward Raheem Moss: On his subpar shooting performance: "A lot of times it was me trying to force the action instead of letting the game come to me. I got some great passes from the other guards, but a lot of the time it was my fault trying to force the action."

UW-Green Bay Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk: "I haven't slept in two days worrying about this game. That was a good basketball team we beat tonight and one of our best wins on the road. They are a well coached and very talented team."
