Cleveland State Head Coach Mike Garland: "We didn't play with our blue collar, relentless, scrapping style like we should have for 40-straight minutes, and that cost us the ballgame. We just didn't come with the energy that we needed come with at the start of this basketball game. We needed to pressure them like we did in the last eight minutes to make them pick up the tempo of the game so that we could get in a game rhythm and score some easy baskets and we didn't do that tonight. We got to get a better effort."

"There is one way that we have to win here at Cleveland State, and when we do that, we have a very good basketball team. Regardless of hitting the shots or not hitting the shots, we have won these same games shooting the same percentage and doing the same thing, and we could have done the same thing tonight. But for whatever reason, we didn't."

Cleveland State forward Patrick Tatham: "We knew coming into this game that we have to play better at home. Give a lot of credit to Butler, they played good and we just didn't show up today as a team."

Butler Head Coach Todd Lickliter: "CSU is playing really good basketball and we were obviously very concerned coming in. I thought they really guarded and there wasn't anything available. We just didn't have any good looks. They were physical and guarded well."

"You have to get fortunate sometimes and I thought they went inside on us and we struggled to defend that, so I feel very fortunate. But I think our guys competed and we got good play off the bench."
