This was the 29th all-time meeting between CSU and Valpo with the Vikings owning a 22-7 series lead. The two teams had not met since the 1993-94 season.
The win improves CSU to 14-5 overall and 7-0 in league play, putting the Vikings a game-and-a-half ahead of Butler and three games ahead of the rest of the league.
CSU is now 7-0 in league play for only the second time in school history (and first in the Horizon League), matching the accomplishment of the 1992-93 team that won its first 14 league games.
The Vikings have now won 6 straight games for the first time since a seven-game streak in Jan.-Feb., 2001.
The Vikings ties the Wolstein Center record for consecutive wins with seven straight (done twice...97-98 and 92-94).
Valparaiso never led in the opening half, though the game was tied at 7 (16:11) and 16 (8:41). A 6-2 CSU run over the final 4:04 of the half gave the Vikings their largest lead (30-23) at the intermission.

CSU, which was leading the league with a +8.0 rebounding margin this year, enjoyed a 36-28 edge on the boards. The Vikings have been out-rebounded just four times this year.
