Cleveland State Men’s Basketball Signs Ebrima Dibba to Letter of Intent

Cleveland, OH-Ebrima Dibba is the newest member of the Cleveland State men's basketball team, head coach Daniyal Robinson announced today. Dibba comes to CSU from the University of South Carolina, where he spent the past two years, after playing the previous four seasons at Coastal Carolina University. Dibba will have one year of eligibility remaining with the Vikings. His signing completes the 2024 Cleveland State recruiting class, as he joins Tahj Staveskie and Isaac Abidde as the newest signees. Coach Robinson will also bring in four freshmen who committed to the program earlier this year for a total of seven new faces on the 2024-25 roster.

"I am thrilled to welcome Ebrima Dibba to the Viking Family," said Coach Robinson. "Ebrima has had a very unique journey to get here, and we're really excited to have him for his final Grad year. Ebo, as he likes to be called, represents the final piece to our 2024 recruiting class. On the court, fans will see that Ebo brings an elite combination of size and playmaking ability to the roster, and I'm really excited to add a versatile piece like him to the puzzle. Coupled with that, it was Ebo's character and experience he brings with him that made him a priority target for us out of the transfer portal. I'm really looking forward to working with Ebrima and seeing the impact he'll make at Cleveland State both on and off the court."

Dibba played four seasons at Coastal Carolina where he started 87 of the 90 games he appeared in. He scored in double figures 39 times and averaged 8.2 points, 5.2 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game over his career with the Chanticleers. He registered career highs of 19 points and 12 assists. He then transferred to South Carolina, where his 2022-23 season was cut short due to an injury in summer workouts. Dibba played in four games this past season for the Gamecocks.

Dibba has been successful in the classroom throughout his college career. He was named to the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner's List as well as the Coastal Carolina President's List in 2021 after registering a perfect 4.0 GPA. He was named to the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll in 2022-23.

Dibba is originally from Bredäng, Sweden and played his high school basketball at the prestigious St. Benedict's Prep School in Newark, New Jersey. Dibba led St. Bendedict's to back-to-back New Jersey State Championships in 2017 and 2018 as well as an overall record of 59-5. The team finished with a top-10 national ranking in each of his two seasons.
