The Cleveland State Men's Basketball team moved to 7-6 on the season with a 78-48 victory over Mount St. Joseph in front of a crowd of 1,500 at the Wolstein Center.
The game went in the books as an exhibition for the Lions, who were overmatched from the opening tip. The Vikings got off to a fast start, jumping out to a 26-3 advantage in the game's first ten-plus minutes. Overall, 11 Cleveland State players played in the contest and every one of them cracked the score sheet.
The Vikings finished at a 47-percent clip from the floor in the game, as well as totaling 13 three point makes. CSU also finished an efficient 5-6 from the free throw line.
Four Vikings finished in double figures, led by Drew Lowder who finished with a season-high 18 points. Lowder finished 7-9 from the floor and also added two rebounds and a steal.
Yahel Hill finished with 12 points, while also tallying three rebounds and four assists. Tae Williams and Jayson Woodrich finished with 10 points each.
Dylan Arnett provided a spark off the bench in the second half. Arnett scored on a breakaway dunk, and also contributed eight rebounds and five assists, both of which are season highs. He added a free throw for three points, which is also a season high.
Another highlight came late, when Paxton Payne hit a three-point jumper for his first points of the season.
The Vikings led at the half by 19, 40-21, and the lead plateaued at 30 late in the game. The Vikings held Mount St. Joseph to just 16 made field goals in the contest.
The game marked the final non-conference game of the season for Cleveland State. The Vikings return to Horizon League play next week, starting with a road contest at Youngstown State on Thursday, December 29th. The game is part of a doubleheader with the CSU Women's Team, who will also play at Youngstown State that evening.
