CLEVELAND – After capturing the 2021-22 Horizon League regular-season title, the Cleveland State men's basketball program will get a chance to add more hardware to its haul as the Vikings have accepted a bid to the 2022 NIT Tournament. It is the second straight season that Cleveland State has advanced to postseason play.
CSU will learn of its seeding and destination at 9 PM ET on Sunday, March 13, as the NIT Selection Show will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
It is the first time the Vikings have advanced to consecutive national postseason tournaments since CSU made it to back-to-back NITs to conclude the 2011 and 2012 seasons. The program also made it to two straight NIT Tournaments to close the 1987 and 1988 campaigns.
Cleveland State has collected three victories overall over its first five NIT appearances. CSU advanced to the NIT in 1987, 1988, 2008, 2011 and 2012.
When counting NCAA Tournaments and CITs, this will be the 11thpostseason appearance in program history for the Vikes.
