The Game
For the first time in five games, Cleveland State was able to take a lead into the halftime break, as the Vikings held a slight 32-31 advantage after the first 20 minutes of play.

The Vikings then quickly added to their lead over the opening minutes of the second half, as a 7-0 run put the Vikings up by eight points at the 39-31 mark, following back-to-back baskets from Yahel Hill with 17:20 left to play.

Although YSU was able to work its way back into the contest over the next few possessions, the Vikings regained control over a two-minute span when the Vikings posted seven straight points to gain a 48-42 lead on a pair of Hill free throws with 9:54 left to play.

A YSU free throw snapped the scoring run, but a Mabor Majak offensive rebound and put-back on the ensuing possession put the score at 50-43 Cleveland State.

Youngstown State answered with an and-one play on their next trip down the floor, but the Vikings responded once again, as a Hill jumper, Chris Greene three-pointer and Deante Johnson dunk put the Vikings up by double-digits at 57-46 with 5:24 left to play.

The two teams then traded baskets over the next few plays, until a D'Moi Hodge three-pointer at the 3:59 mark put the Vikings back up by double-digits at 62-52.

The Vikings were then able to withstand a late run from the Penguins over the final minutes of the contest, maintaining a lead over the final stretch to come away with the win.

With just 12 seconds left on the clock, and the score at 62-61 CSU, Youngstown State was able to grab a defensive rebound to put the ball in their possession one more time, but Torrey Patton was able to draw a charge on the ensuing possession, giving the ball back to the Vikings with just two seconds remaining.

On the ensuing inbounds play, Patton had a full-court pass to Tre Gomillion who converted a dunk to seal the 64-61 victory for the Vikings.
