Cleveland State Men’s Basketball Adds Brody Boyer For 2022-23 Campaign

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Reigning Horizon League Coach of the Year Dennis Gates has announced the addition of transfer guard Brody Boyer for the 2022-23 campaign.

"We are thrilled to have Brody join our program," Gates said. "He will be a great fit in the classroom, on the court and in the community at Cleveland State. Brody has thrived as an all-conference performer in one of the toughest regions in junior college basketball and we can't wait to have him join the Viking Family."

Boyer will join the Vikings for the 2022-23 campaign as a senior in the classroom. He will have two years of eligibility on the court after exercising his COVID waiver.

In both of his first two seasons at EFSC Boyer helped the Titans to a pair of State Tournament Semifinal appearances, while earning Second Team All-Central Conference accolades.

Boyer has led EFSC to a combined record of 40-16 during his time, including a 20-win campaign as a freshman when the Knights posted a 22-11 record.

Off the court, Boyer was named the FCSAA Region 8 Hal Chasey Scholar-Athlete of the Year, while also earning NJCAA All-Academic Team honors twice (1st Team – 2020, 2nd Team – 2021).

"Brody is a fantastic all-around guard that can stuff the stat sheet, but above all, he is a flat-out winner," Eastern Florida State College head coach Jeremy Shulman said. "Coach Gates did an incredible job throughout the recruiting process, and got a great player who will have an impact on a great Cleveland State team throughout his career.

As a freshman, Boyer averaged 4.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game, shooting 36-percent from the floor. Boyer then made improvements in all areas as a sophomore, averaging 8.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game, while notching a .387 clip from the field.

Through four games this season, Boyer is averaging 10.8 points and 5.7 assists per game, while shooting 47-percent from three-point as the Titans are currently ranked fourth in the NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball poll.
