Cleveland State Adds Nathanael Jack to 2021-22 Roster

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Reigning back-to-back Horizon League Coach of the Year Dennis Gates has announced the signing of Florida State transfer guard Nathanael Jack to the team's 2021-22 roster. Jack comes to Cleveland State after spending the previous two seasons at Florida State.

"I couldn't be more thrilled to welcome Nate Jack to our family," said Dennis Gates. "Nate is a gifted athlete and an incredible person. He's been around winning programs throughout his entire collegiate career and will bring that winning mentality to our program here at Cleveland State. Nate will without a doubt be a fantastic representation of Cleveland State University in the classroom, on the court and in our community."

Jack appeared in 19 games for the Seminoles during the 2020-21 campaign, helping the team reach the Sweet 16 for the third consecutive season. The 6-5 guard averaged 3.6 points as a senior, pouring in a career-high 18 points in a win over NC State on Jan. 13, 2021. Jack shot nearly perfect from the field that game, scoring his 18 points on a 7-8 (.875) clip from the floor, including a 4-5 (.800) mark from the three-point line in 12 minutes of action.

During his junior season, Jack saw action in 13 games and was part of Florida State's record-setting year, which saw the Seminoles finish with a 26-5 overall record, a program-best 16-4 clip in ACC play and the program's first-ever ACC Regular Season Championship. Over his two-year career at FSU, the newest Cleveland State Viking appeared in 32 games and averaged 3.5 points in 6.8 minutes.

In the classroom, Jack was a member of the 2020 ACC Academic Honor Roll and is a 2021 graduate of Florida State University, graduating with a degree in Social Sciences – Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

Prior to his time at Florida State, Jack suited up for the Eastern Florida State College Titans for two years, leading the team to back-to-back appearances in the Junior College National Championship Tournament, in addition to two consecutive Mid-Florida Conference Championships in both of his seasons.

During his sophomore season, the guard registered 23 games of connecting on at least two triples, including a perfect 6-6 (1.000) effort against Florida State College at Jacksonville on Feb. 16, 2019. Jack appeared in 36 games for the Titans during the 2018-19 season, averaging 8.9 points and 3.3 rebounds.

The 2018 Junior College National Championship runner-up graduated from Eastern Florida State College in 2019 with an Associate's Degree in General Education. Throughout his two years suiting up for the Titans, Jack averaged 9.8 points and 2.9 rebounds in 16.9 minutes per game, appearing in 70 contests and making 12 starts.

Jack graduated from Calusa Prep in Miami in 2017. He earned All-State Third-Team honors on the Florida Association of Basketball Coaches Independent team as a senior. The son of Clifton and Venise Jack poured in a career-best 40 points against Downey Christian as a senior, too.
