CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State senior Craig Beaudion has announced his intent to exercise his extra year of eligibility and remain a Viking for the 2021-22 season using the season-of-competition waiver, the guard posted on his social media pages on Tuesday afternoon. A season-of-competition waiver restores a used season when a student-athlete participates limitedly and cannot complete the season due to extraordinary circumstances.

The Chicago, Illinois, native appeared in 27 games (all starts) this past season for the Green and White, averaging 9.3 points, a team-leading 3.3 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 31.0 minutes of play. Beaudion had an impressive Horizon League Tournament, scoring 10-or-more points in all three games, averaging 12.7 points per contest, aiding the Vikes to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2009.
Beaudion swiped a career-best five steals in a win over Northern Kentucky on Jan. 9, in addition to 14 points. Two weeks later, in front of a nationally-televised audience, the Whitney Young product poured in a season-high 25 points on a remarkable career-high tying 8-10 (.800) clip from the field, to go along with a career-high tying six rebounds, four assists and a game-high tying two steals in 33 minutes.
In 51 games (41 starts) throughout his two years as a Viking, Beaudion has averaged 9.3 points, 3.4 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 31.0 minutes of action. The senior is a two-time recipient of the team's Most Assists Award, dishing out 173 assists throughout his Cleveland State career.
Prior to joining Coach Gates and the Vikings, Beaudion spent two seasons at Colby Community College where he garnered First Team All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference honors in 2018-19.
