Vikings Off to Best Start Since 2007-08 Season

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – The Cleveland State Vikings extended its win streak on Saturday at the Jungle on the campus of IUPUI, taking down the Jaguars 59-49. The Vikings have now won six-straight games, all Horizon League contests, marking their longest winning streak since the 2013-14 season (seven games), as well as their best start to league play since the 2007-08 season (7-0).

Senior guard Craig Beaudion picked up right where he left off from Friday's contest, recording the first basket of Saturday's league game. Azariah Seay opened up a seven-point lead, 15-8, for the Jaguars, off of a three-pointer with 11:04 left to play in the first half.

Torrey Patton ended IUPUI's run, knocking down a three-pointer, assisted by Deante Johnson at the 9:40 mark of the half. Down, 19-12 with 8:47 left to play in the opening 20 minutes, the Vikes went on an 8-0 run to take a 20-19 lead, capped off with an Algevon Eichelberger offensive rebound and put-back bucket.

Tre Gomillion buried a fading jump shot as time was expiring in the opening half, tying the ballgame heading into intermission, 28-28.

Cleveland State began the second half on an 8-2 run to hold a six-point, 36-30, advantage with 16:17 left to play in regulation. 

At the 10:45 mark of the second half, Gomillion knocked down a mid-range jump shot, to give the Vikings a double-digit, 47-37, lead. 

Cleveland State never trailed during the second half of Saturday's tilt, pulling away with a 59-49 victory.
