SETTING THE SCENE
The Cleveland State men's basketball team looks to bounce back after a hard-fought battle against the Toledo Rockets in their season-opening contest on Tuesday at Savage Arena. Freshmen Alec Oglesby, Jayson Woodrich and Demetrius Terry look to contribute after playing solid in their first collegiate outing, while juniors Tre Gomillion and Deante Johnson look to continue their dominance on the boards, combining for 18 rebounds in Tuesday's tilt.

A WIN ON SUNDAY WOULD…
Mark Cleveland State's first W against a Mid-American Conference opponent since Dec. 5, 2018 vs. Bowling Green (82-64).

THE CLEVELAND STATE/OHIO SERIES
Sunday's contest is the 15th all-time meeting between Cleveland State and Ohio University. A win would give the Vikings their first victory against the Bobcats since the 1998-99 season, having not won since December 8, 1998 in Cleveland (64-61). The win would also mark the Vikings first-ever win at the Convocation Center in Athens, Ohio.

ONE FOR THE RECORD BOOKS
Junior forward Deante Johnson had a record-performance in the team's first contest of the season at Toledo (12/1/20). Johnnson grabbed a career-high tying 10 rebounds (last done 1/5/20 at Green Bay) and set a new career-high in blocks, rejecting five shots. The junior's five blocks are tied for seventh-most in a single game in Cleveland State history. Johnson is the 24th Viking in CSU history to swat five shots (last done by Charlie Woods vs. Valpo, 2/3/11) and is one of only eight players in NCAA Divion I to record 10+ rebounds and 5+ blocks in a single game this season (as of 12/4/20).

FIRST GAME JITTERS? NEVER HEARD OF 'EM
Coach Gates played four freshman against the Rockets on Dec. 1, with freshman guard Alec Oglesby getting the start and leading the team in steals (two). Forward Jayson Woodrich made an impact off of the bench, leading all bench scoring, pouring in 11 points on a 4-8 (.500) clip from the floor, while Demetrius Terry saw 10 minutes of play going 2-3 (.667) from the field scoring two points and forward Mabor Majak saw two minutes of action.

WELCOME BACK, BEAUDION!
Senior Craig Beaudion poured in a team-high 14 points against the Rockets on Tuesday (12/1), in addition to four rebounds and two assists in 35.1 minutes of play. The Chicago, Ill., native, who suffered a season-ending right knee injury, appeared in 24 games (14 starts), averaging 10.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.8 steals in 31.3 minutes per game last year. He was one of only three Vikings to average 10-or-more points, while leading the team in assists per game. Beaudion's 1.8 steals were good for third-most in the Horizon League.
