Gates Adds Mirambeaux to 2021-22 Roster

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State Head Men's Basketball Coach Dennis Gates has announced the signing of sophomore center Anderson Mirambeaux to the team's 2021-22 roster.

"I'm thrilled to have Anderson join our culture," said Gates. "He is a very gifted, experienced and unique player for his position. Anderson has a high basketball IQ in addition to great passing ability. He has the patience to dominate with his back to the basket and the skill to do the same at the pinch post and short corners. He is an outstanding young man. I am excited for him to join our program and the Cleveland State University community."

Mirambeaux signs with Cleveland State after having spent his freshman season at Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas. The 6-7, 280-pound center saw action in 31 games (28 starts) for the Cardinals, averaging 14.6 points on .581 shooting from the floor, a team-best 9.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists. Mirambeaux's 14.6 points ranked second-most on the team.

"I chose Cleveland State University because it provides the best opportunity for me to grow as a young man academically and athletically," said Mirambeaux. "I had an instant connection with Coach Gates and I know he is invested in my future and will push me to be my best every day."

The Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native notched 22 games of 10-or-more points and 14 games of 10-plus rebounds, including four contests of 15-or-more boards. Mirambeaux pulled down a career-high 23 rebounds in a 73-72 win on Jan. 25 against Bossier Parish Community College. His 9.5 rebounds were good for 22nd most in the NJCAA.

"Anderson Mirambeaux is a very special player and an even more special person," said Trinity Valley Community College men's basketball head coach Mark Leslie. "He captured the hearts of the fans here at Trinity Valley from day one. Anderson is a very gifted offensive weapon; he has great hands and a soft touch around the basket. I'm honored to be his coach and I'm sure he will be loved at Cleveland State."

Mirambeaux played his high school basketball at Teays Valley Christian School in Scott Depot, West Virginia, where he was named to the 2018-19 First Team ALL-USA West Virginia Boys Team.

"Anderson Mirambeaux is first and foremost a great young man on and off the court," said Travis Tarr, Teays Valley Christian School men's basketball head coach. "On the court, he's a very unique big, as he can play as a traditional big in the paint, but also take his man off the dribble as a 'point forward.' As his high school coach, I never saw him back down from a matchup and there was never a moment too big for him. I'm excited to see what the future holds for Anderson and Cleveland State men's basketball."
