Cleveland State's Second Half Comeback Falls Short

GREEN BAY, Wisconsin – Despite an incredible second half comeback and another stellar performance by Torrey Patton, the Vikings fell in their final game of the regular season on Saturday night (Feb. 29), 74-67.

QUICK HITS:

  • Cleveland State scored 17 points off of 13 Green Bay turnovers…12 of their 17 points came in the second half (12-0)

  • Torrey Patton notched his second career double-double, tallying a career-high 14 rebounds (seven offensive), to go along with a team-high 19 points, two assists, one steal and one block in 31.6 minutes

  • Kasheem Thomas dished out a season-high, and team-high, seven assists tonight, while finishing with eight points, two rebounds and a season-high tying, also a game-high, four steals in 36.1 minutes

GAME RECAP:

The Vikings found themselves trailing for most of the tonight's contest, as Cleveland State's largest lead was four points under a minute into the game. Midway through the first half of play, the Vikes were in a 10-point, 25-15, hole.

Green Bay extended its lead heading into intermission, 40-23.

After being down by 21 points, 47-26, early in the second half, the Vikings went on a 14-2 run, capped off by a Kasheem Thomas corner three-pointer. With 15:02 left in the second half, the Vikings were down by single digits, 49-40.

Cleveland State would work on clawing its way back all throughout the final 20 minutes of action.

On two separate occasions late in the second half, the Vikings were able to get within three points of Green Bay, once off of a Jaalam Hill free throw with 5:46 on the clock and once off of a Torrey Patton free throw with just over a minute to play.

Despite Cleveland State's strong second half, the Vikings fell to the Phoenix, 74-67.

The Vikings poured in 44 points in the second half, dishing out nine assists on 16 made baskets.
