GAME RECAP

INDIANAPOLIS -- Sophomore Tre Gomillion scored on a putback tip-in at the buzzer lifting Cleveland State to an 82-80 Horizon League victory over IUPUI on Monday in the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.

The game-winning basket by Gomillion capped a frenetic final minute of play.

Jaylen Minnett, who led the Jaguars with 23 points, drilled a long-range three-pointer to tie the score at 80-80 with 8.8 seconds remaining in regulation.

Following a Cleveland State timeout, the Vikings worked the ball to Algevon Eichelberger who fired a free throw line jumper that was off the mark, but Gomillion worked inside and tapped in the rebound as the buzzer sounded giving the Vikings their first Horizon League victory of the season.

Gomillion, who finished with 14 points, notched his second game-winning shot of the season. He also converted a putback to defeat UNC Wilmington earlier this season.

Craig Beaudion led the Vikings with 15 points and he also added eight assists.

Cleveland State, which improved to 5-10 overall and 1-1 in the Horizon League, placed five players in double figures for the first time this season.

Torrey Patton had another brilliant all-around game for the Vikings as he scored 14 points, grabbed seven rebounds and recorded four steals.

Jaalam Hill added a season-high 13 points and Eichelberger finished with 12 points.

Cleveland State shot 53.4 percent from the floor and 53.8 percent from the three-point line.

Cleveland State returns to the Wolstein Center on Saturdaty (Jan. 4) as it faces Youngstown State in its Horizon League home openr at 3 p.m.
