CLEVELAND -- Rheaquone Taylor has signed a national letter of intent to attend Cleveland State University and play basketball for the Vikings, head coach Dennis Felton announced on Thursday.

Taylor, a 6-8, 220-pound forward, is transferring to Cleveland State after spending the previous two seasons at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas.

"We are thrilled to officially welcome Rheaquone and his family to Cleveland State. Rheaquone is a player that we really prioritized over this past year because of the versatility and athleticism," said Felton. "He has spent the past two seasons playing for a Hall of Fame coach at one of the top junior college programs in the country and can impact the game in so many different ways.

"Offensively, he possesses the skill and strength to play both inside and out while also being a guy that can defend multiple positions. He is a very explosive athlete who plays above the rim and plays with great strength and force. Rheaquone is a winner and a highly competitive young man that plays the game with passion and enthusiasm."

Taylor averaged 10.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game last season for a Blue Dragons team that posted a 26-8 record and advanced to the finals of the Region VI Tournament.

He shot 51.0 percent from the floor and 70.6 percent from the free throw line. He reached double figures in scoring in 20 games and scored a season-high 25 points against Labette Community College.

As a freshman, he played in 36 games and started 20 times while averaging 6.6 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. He shot 55.1 percent from the floor and reached double figures in scoring nine times, which included a career-high 28-point effort against Pratt Community College.

Taylor was part of a team that had a 29-7 overall record and advanced to the second round of the NJCAA National Tournament.
