Vikings Host Milwaukee in Middle Game of Four-Game Homestand

CLEVELAND -- Cleveland State plays the middle game of its four-game homestand on Saturday (Feb. 9) when it hosts Milwaukee in a Horizon League game at 3 p.m. in the Wolstein Center.

The Vikings opened the homestand on Thursday with an 82-65 loss to Green Bay. The Phoenix used a 13-3 run midway through the second period to pull away from Cleveland State.

After playing only 10 minutes in the previous two games, sophomore Tyree Appleby returned to form on Thursday by scoring a game-high 24 points. He was 5-of-12 from the three-point line and also had five assists, two steals and two assists.

Freshman Rashad Williams finished with nine points on three three-pointers to up his season total to 69, which broke the CSU freshman record for three-pointers in a season. He broke a tie with James Madison at the top of the list with his three three-pointers.

Seth Millner had a solid all-around game for the Vikings as he recorded eight points, nine rebounds and a career-best five steals. Algevon Eichelberger added eight points and eight rebounds for the Vikings.

Cleveland State, which enters the game with an overall record of 6-19 and a 1-11 mark in the Horizon League, will seek a measure of revenge against Milwaukee after the Panthers rallied to win the first game of the season between the two teams 83-76 in Milwaukee on Jan. 3. The Panthers trailed by 14 points in the first half, but outscored CSU 55-38 in the second half to claim the victory.

Darius Roy led four players in double figures for the Panthers with 24 points, while Appleby scored 33 points and had seven rebounds and six assists for Cleveland State.

Appleby leads the Vikings averaging 16.8 points per game and currently ranks second in the Horizon League averaging 5.0 assists per contest. Williams is second on the team scoring 10.6 points per game, while Stefan Kenic is averaging 10.0 points per outing.

Milwaukee, which is 9-15 overall and 4-7 in league play, has dropped four straight games.
