INDIANAPOLIS -- Cleveland State's Rashad Williams has been named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week for his performance in the Vikings victory over Youngstown State the league office announced on Monday.
Williams poured in a game-high 20 points in leading Cleveland State to a 72-62 victory over Youngstown State on Saturday in the Wolstein Center.
Williams was 7-of-12 from the floor, including 6-of-8 from the three-point line, in helping lead the Vikings to their first Horizon League victory of the season. He also added three rebounds and an assist.
His six three-pointers was just one shy of tying his own Cleveland State freshman school record of seven three-pointers in a game.
This marks the second time this season that Williams has captured the award having been feted by the league on Dec. 17. Williams joins Antoine Davis of Detroit Mercy and Braden Norris of Oakland as players to have received the award multiple times this season.
