Vikings to Face Youngstown State in Opening Round of Horizon League Championship

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's basketball team earned the No. 8 seed in the Horizon League Championship and will face No. 9 seeded Youngstown State in a first round game on Friday (March 2) at 8:00 pm at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.

The winner will advance to a second round game on Saturday (March 3) at 8:00 pm against top-seeded Northern Kentucky.

CSU (9-22, 6-12 HL) split two games with the Penguins this year, falling 80-77 in the League opener on Jan. 1 at the Wolstein Center and earning a 99-94 double overtime win in Youngstown on Saturday night in the regular season finale.

This will be the second straight year that CSU and YSU will meet in the first round of the League tournament.

Seventh-seeded Green Bay will face 10th seeded Detroit Mercy on Friday at 5:30 pm in the other first round game with that winner advancing to take on second-seeded Wright State on Saturday (March 4) at 8:00 pm.

Third-seeded UIC will face sixth-seeded Milwaukee in a second round game on Sunday (March 5) at 5:00 pm with fourth-seeded Oakland facing fifth-seeded IUPUI at 7:30 pm.

The semifinals will be played on Monday (March 6) at 7:00 pm and 9:30 pm on ESPNU with the championship game slated for Tuesday (March 7) at 7:00 pm on ESPN or EPSN2.
