CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Stefan Kenic, a 6-foot-9, 220-pound combo forward who has been a starter for the Serbian National Team over the last four years, has signed to join the Cleveland State men's basketball program.

Kenic will join the Vikings for the 2017-18 academic year and have four years of eligibility.

"Speaking for our players and the rest of CSU basketball, we are excited to have Stefan join our program," head coach Dennis Felton said. "Stefan has an excellent skill set. He can score from deep three-point range and inside. He can also put the ball on the floor and create for others.

"Stefan has unique experience, having played many years of high level international basketball while benefiting from excellent coaching and will bring a good feel for the game. Our style of play will rely on skills like passing and shooting so Stefan should feel at home here, especially with the help he'll receive from his expereinced teammates."

A native of Belgrade, Serbia, Kenic was a standout for Red Star Belgrade before playing for KK Smederevo last season. A starter in 17 of the 24 games he appeared in, Kenic averaged 8.0 points and 6.0 rebounds for one of the top clubs in the 1st Serbian Division.

Kenic will compete with the U20 Serbian National Team at the FIBA Euro Championships in Greece this July, continuing a strong tradition he has had with the team. 

As a member of the U16 squad, Kenic helped Serbia to a gold medal at the European Youth Olympics Festival and a silver medal at the FIBA Euro Championships. Kenic led the U17 team to a bronze medal at the FIBA World Championships, which included an 18-point effort in a victory over Argentina and the U18 team to a fifth place showing at the FIBA Euro Championships.

Kenic chose Cleveland State over offers from Vanderbilt, Illinois, St. Bonaventure, San Diego State, UC-Santa Barbara and Boise State among others.
