DETROIT, Mich. – Daniel Levitt hit six of seven three-pointers for a career-high 18 points, but Detroit Mercy used a strong shooting performance to top Cleveland State, 91-83, on Tuesday night in Calihan Hall.

CSU fell to 8-21 overall and 4-13 in the Horizon League, while the Titans improved to 7-21 overall (5-11 HL).

STAT LEADERS

• Levitt scored his career-high 18 points in just 11 minutes off the bench. He also added two assists and a rebound.
• Levitt's six three-pointers are tied for the fourth most in a game in CSU history. He is the 17th player to make six three's in a game and the first since Charlie Lee at Oakland on Feb. 6, 2014.
• Rob Edwards scored 17 points with four rebounds, two assists and a steal.
• Bobby Word hit three three-pointers and scored 16 points, while Anthony Wright finished with 11 points, five rebounds and two assists.
• Kasheem Thomas posted eight points, six assists, three steals and two rebounds. It was the seventh game this year he tallied at least six helpers.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Vikings scored the first eight points of the game and raced out to an 11-2 lead less than four minutes in as CSU hit four of its first five shots.
• The Titans slowly began to chip away and took their first lead of the night, 17-16, midway through the first half on a Jaleel Hogan free throw.
• The game was tied at 25-25 with 6:25 to play in the first half, but Detroit Mercy used a 17-5 run over the next five-plus minutes to open up a 12-point lead (42-30) with 56 seconds left.
• An Evan Clayborne layup ended the first half scoring with the Titans ahead, 42-32.
• The Vikings opened the second half on a 10-6 run to cut the Detroit Mercy lead to 48-42 on a three-point play from Wright.
• But the Titans answered with a 7-2 spurt to regain an 11-point advantage (55-44).
• A three-point play by Wright capped a mini 5-0 run that brought the Vikings within six (55-49) with 13 minutes to play.
• Detroit Mercy answered by scoring 16 of the next 20 points to open up a 71-53 lead with 8:25 left in the game.
• A three-point play by Thomas cut the Titan lead under double figures (77-68) with 3:36 to play and after a Detroit Mercy turnover, Levitt hit a three-pointer to bring the Vikings within six points (77-71).
• After a Titans miss, the Vikings had a transition opportunity, but a turnover midcourt led to a dunk from Josh McFolley on the other end and started an 8-0 run for the Titans.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Detroit Mercy shot .592 (29-49) from the field, while the Vikings shot 30-of-70 (.429).
• CSU hit 14-of-33 from three-point. The 14 three-pointers tied a CSU single game record, which had been accomplished three previous times.
• The 33 three-point attempts were a CSU single game record, topping the old mark of 32 set vs. Norfolk State on Nov. 27, 2004.
• The Titans held a 40-28 advantage on the glass.
• UDM shot 25-of-33 at the free throw line, while the Vikings were 9-of-13.
• CSU made just 11 turnovers compared to 19 for Detroit Mercy. The Vikings turned those into 22 points.
• Thomas started his 29^th game of the season, second most for a freshman in CSU history. Rob Edwards and Shawn Hood share the record for most starts by a freshman in program history with 30.
• Terrell Hales made his second straight start, joining Thomas, Edwards and Word in the backcourt and Demonte Flannigan in the front court.

• CSU closes the regular season on Saturday (Feb. 25) with a 3:30 pm contest against Youngstown State in the Wolstein Center.
