Vikings Top Malone, 69-48, in Exhibition

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Trey Lewis scored 27 points and Anton Grady had 18 points and nine rebounds as Cleveland State defeated Malone, 69-48, in an exhibition game on Monday night in the Wolstein Center.

Lewis hit 9-of-12 from the field, including four three-pointers en route to game high scoring honors. Grady, who finished 6-of-12 from the field, added three blocked shots, while Andre Yates scored nine points and Marlin Mason finished with six rebounds.

Malone hit its first three three-pointers to take an early 9-4 lead, but CSU responded with a 14-4 run to take an 18-13 advantage with just over seven minutes to play in the half on a Yates layup. The lead would grow to as many as 11 points late in the first half and the Vikings held a 29-20 lead at the intermission.

Two early buckets to open the second half helped Malone slice its deficit to five points (29-24), but Grady answered with two straight baskets to start a 15-5 run as CSU's lead grew to 44-29 with 12:53 left in the game.

A pair of three-pointers from Lewis helped the lead grow to as many as 19 points midway through the second half as the Vikings earned to the win.

Brian Stone led Malone with 14 points.

The Vikings open the 2014-15 regular season with a 7:00 p.m. contest at Iona on Friday (Nov. 14) night.
