CLEVELAND, Ohio – Jon Harris tallied his first career double-double with 17 points and a career-best 11 rebounds, but Cleveland State dropped just its second home game of the season, 49-46, to Wright State in a defensive struggle on Sunday afternoon at the Wolstein Center.

The Vikings had a chance to tie the game, but a 30-foot, off-balance three-point attempt from the left wing by Trey Lewis was just long and the Raiders escaped CSU's late comeback bid.

CSU fell to 11-9 overall and 3-3 in the league, while the Raiders improved to 12-9 overall and took over sole possession of second place in the Horizon League at 4-2.

Harris finished 6-of-12 from the field, giving the CSU sixth man his ninth double figure scoring game of the season. Bryn Forbes added 14 points and six rebounds, while Lewis grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds and Marlin Mason blocked three shots.

The Vikings were shorthanded for the second straight game, playing without Anton Grady and Sebastian Douglas.

Jerran Young was the only Raider to reach double-figures, scoring 10 points to lead a balanced attack.

The Raiders opened up their largest lead of the game (44-31) with eight minutes to play on a Kendall Griffin three-pointer, but a Harris tip-in and Lewis three-pointer brought the Vikings back within eight (44-36) with 6:37 to play.

But a three-point play by Young on the next possession extended the WSU lead back to 11 points (47-38). After two Harris free throws, Matt Vest scored on a breakaway dunk to push the Raider lead back to nine with 3:15 to play. It would be the last points of the afternoon for WSU as the Vikings held the Raiders to a pair of missed shots and a 35-second shot clock violation on their final three possessions.

A Devon Long offensive rebound and putback, a Harris baseline dunk and Lewis floater in the lane brought the Vikings back within three (49-46) with 44 seconds to play and after the WSU shot clock violation, the Vikings had a chance to send the game into overtime. Lewis' desperation three-pointer from the left wing was on line, but was just long.

Both teams struggled from the field in a match-up of two of the top defenses in the league. CSU shot just 16-of-49 (.327), while the Raiders were 18-of-54 (.333). The Vikings held a 37-32 advantage on the glass.

A Harris alley-oop dunk off a Lewis assist gave CSU a 19-14 lead at the 7:12 mark of the first half, but the Raiders closed the half on a 15-4 run to take a 29-23 lead into the locker room.

The Vikings are back in action on Wednesday (Jan. 22) when CSU travels to UIC for an 8:00 p.m. EST contest.
