Andrew Hancock, a former CSU swimmer, is in his second season as an assistant coach for the men's and women's programs.
He rejoined his alma mater in 2007-08 after three years in Chicago where he was the Head Age Group Coach at NASA/Wildcat Aquatics out of Northwestern University.
This season, Hancock will again assist in enhancing the performances and abilities of the Vikings swimmers, while serving as the program's recruiting coordinator for the second season.
Hancock enjoyed a highly successful career for the Vikings from 2000-03. The Horizon League Swimmer of the Year in 2002, he won six individual titles, including the 1,650 freestyle in each of his final three seasons.
He won four consecutive conference titles as a member of the Vikings' 800 freestyle relay team, setting a then-conference record in the event in 2003. Hancock was also the former school-record holder in the 400 IM, becoming the first Viking in school history to break the four-minute barrier in the event. As an age group swimmer in Australia, Hancock competed against some of the best swimmers in the sport's history, such as Ian Thorpe and Grant Hackett.
Hancock began his coaching career at CSU, volunteering as an assistant for the men and women during the 2003-04 season.
At Northwestern University, Hancock's age group swimmers achieved 13 top-25 National Rankings over a two-year span, including two first place and seven top-five rankings.
While at Northwestern, Hancock gained valuable insight into one of the top collegiate programs in the country and worked with some of the best swimmers in the world.
In 2004, Hancock graduated from Cleveland State with a Bachelor's degree in Finance. He married former Viking swimmer Rebecca Guerra in 2005. The couple resides in Cleveland, Ohio.
