COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Vikings men's and women's fencing teams competed at the Elite Invitational hosted by Ohio State University on Saturday. Both squads went 0-5 as Cleveland State closed out the calendar year.

The Cleveland State men upended Air Force and Ohio State in sabre and epee and then beat John Hopkins in foil. The Viking women's lone victory came in round two as they defeated Air Force in foil.

Sabre
Men Round 1: John Gaffney went 3-0 in the round, but the Vikings lost to Ohio State 6-3.
Women Round 1: Ilyssa Freiburger went 2-1 and Adeline Mantoan had the other victory as the Buckeyes won 6-3.
Men Round 2: Mason Moskowitz led the Vikings with a 2-1 mark but Air Force won 5-4.
Women Round 2: Each Viking won once as Air Force won 6-3.
Men Round 3: Moskowitz had the only win as John Hopkins won 8-1.
Women Round 3: Northwestern won the round 9-0.
Men Round 4: Gaffney and Moskowitz each won twice as the Vikings beat Ohio State 5-4.
Women Round 4: The Buckeyes won the round 9-0.
Men Round 5: Each Viking won once as UCSD won 6-3.
Women Round 5: UCSD shutout Cleveland State 9-0.

Epee
Men Round 1: Weymouth Walker went 3-0 and Will Waters went 2-1 as the Green and White won 5-4.
Women Round 1: Shelbie Seeberg and Gabriella Hirsch each won once as Cleveland State lost 7-2.
Men Round 2: Jesse Ndjeka won all three bouts and Waters won twice as the Vikings won 6-3.
Women Round 2: Lily Robertson and Maeve Kozak had a win apiece as the Green and White lost 7-2.
Men Round 3: Each Cleveland State fencer won once but the Blue Jays won 6-3.
Women Round 3: Northwestern blanked the Vikings 9-0.
Men Round 4: Each Viking won once as the Buckeyes came out on top 6-3.
Women Round 4: The Buckeyes won the round 9-0.
Men Round 5: Ndjeka went 3-0 and Waters had the other win but the Green and White lost 5-4.
Women Round 5: Kozak won two of her three bouts as Cleveland State fell 7-2.

Foil
Men Round 1: Paul DiVenti had the lone victory as Cleveland State lost 8-1.
Women Round 1: Lily Robertson had the only win as the Vikings fell 8-1.
Men Round 2: Conner Sheperd and Paul DiVenti had the lone wins as the Falcons won 7-2.
Women Round 2: Hirsch went 3-0 and Shelbie Seeberg won twice as Cleveland State won 5-4.
Men Round 3: DiVenti and Sheperd each went 3-0 as the Vikings came out on top 6-3.
Women Round 3: Seeberg had the lone win as the Wildcats won 8-1.
Men Round 4: DiVenti had the only win as Ohio State won 8-1.
Women Round 4: The Buckeyes won the round 9-0.
Men Round 5: DiVenti and Shepard had a win apiece as Cleveland State fell 7-2.
Women Round 5: UCSD shutout the Vikings 9-0.
