Men's Fencing Concludes Day One Of NCAA Championships

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Cleveland State fencing team began competition at the 2021 NCAA Fencing Championships Thursday, with Paul DiVenti, Mason Moskowitz, and De'Mario Steele in action.  

Steele started the day off by picking up four wins in the epee competition, securing wins over Wayne State, Boston College and NJIT. The men's epee field is very close with Steele only being 3 wins shy of placing in the top-10.

Although DiVenti started the day off slow in round one in foil, he ended the day by winning three out of his last eight bouts against Drew University and Duke University.

Moskowitz started his day off with a thrilling victory of Duke University in saber. He followed that up with wins over Drew University and NJIT to end the first day of completion.

Cleveland State currently sits 15th in the overall team standings heading into the second day of the 2021 NCAA Championships.
