CLEVELAND, Ohio- The Cleveland State men's and women's fencing team went undefeated on the day on Saturday (Nov. 2) at Case Western Reserve.
The Viking men improved to 12-1 on the year taking down Xavier (31-5), Oberlin (24-3), Oakland (16-2), Bowling Green (22-5), Case Western (22-5). The CSU women improved to 11-2 on the season, defeating Xavier (22-3), Oberlin (20-7), Oakland (13-5), Bowling Green (24-3), and Case Western (20-7).
Tom Bienvenu (Sabre) and David Schultz (Sabre) Phelan Spence (Foil) went a perfect 15-0 on the day and on the women's side Samantha Finster (Foil) went 13-0 on the day.
Other fencers that contributed to the win was John Cuturic and Salih Yasun for the men and the women had key contributors from Meghan Rose and Caitlin Thompson.
The men and women will be back in action on Friday (Nov. 8), Saturday (Nov. 9), Sunday (Nov. 10), and Monday (Nov. 11) as the team will be competing for four days at the USA Fencing NAC.
