A LOOK AT WHAT'S HAPPENING

CROSS COUNTRY
• Cleveland State will continue the 2015 season with a trip to Florida this weekend, as the Vikings will run in the Disney World Classic in Orlando, Florida.
• After the first five races of the season, the Vikings have posted seven top-50 5K performances and five top-50 6K performances on the CSU all-time top performances list.

FENCING
• The fencing teams opened the season at the Ohio State Open and Duals over the weekend.

MEN’S GOLF
• The Vikings will host the CSU Invitational on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 5-6) at Barrington GC with the field playing 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 holes on Tuesday.
• CSU finished fifth of 11 teams at the NKU Collegiate Classic last week as Patrick Luth tied for eighth place with rounds of 70-70-76 - 216.

WOMEN’S GOLF
• CSU returns to action on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 5-6) at the Rocket Classic on Catawba Island, Ohio.
• The Vikings finished 12th of 16 teams at the Ball State Cardinal Classic on Sept. 21-22 as Sophie Kelner tied for 38th place overall with rounds of 79-77-77 (233).

MEN’S SOCCER
• The Vikings (3-5-1, 0-2-1 HL) play two matches this week, hosting Northern Kentucky on Wednesday (Oct. 7) and traveling to Oakland for a match on Saturday (Oct. 10).
• CSU played to a 1-1 draw with Detroit in its lone match last week as Jake Lagania registered his team-leading third goal of the season.

WOMEN’S SOCCER
• The Vikings (7-4-1, 3-0 HL) return to action on Saturday (Oct. 10) with a home match against Milwaukee.
• CSU won a pair of matches last week, knocking off YSU, 2-1, on Wednesday and winning at Green Bay, 1-0, on Saturday to improve to 3-0 in the Horizon League for the first time in school history.
• Vickie Havas and Ashley Thiss scored in the win over YSU, while Kaila Sargema scored the goal at Green Bay.

MEN’S TENNIS
• The Vikings will return to action at the UT Rocket Invitational this weekend, competing in the 12-team field on Saturday, October 10 and Sunday, October 11.
• Entering the weekend, Mirko Radosevic has a team-best 5-1 singles record, while Kevin Goth is 3-1 and Andre Mick and Benjamin Slade are 4-2.

WOMEN’S TENNIS
• Cleveland State will continue the fall portion of its schedule this weekend, competing at the UB Invitational from Friday, October 9 – Sunday, October 11.
• Princess Gbadamosi has a team-best 3-3 singles record, while Morgan Nix and Victoria Bensimon have a team-high 2-1 mark in doubles play.

VOLLEYBALL
• Cleveland State (14-3, 3-0 HL) will look to stay perfect in Horizon League play on the road this weekend, traveling to Oakland (Friday, Oct. 9) and Wright State (Saturday, Oct. 10).
• Last time out, the Vikings extended their win streak to six with a 3-0 victory over Youngstown State to close out a three-match homestand. The Vikings have won five straight matches with 3-0 sweeps.
• This is the first time under head coach Chuck Voss that the Vikings, who sit atop the league standings, have opened Horizon League play with a 3-0 mark.

VIKING OF THE WEEK

Erin OToole, Women’s Soccer, Senior, Parma Heights, Ohio

O’Toole helped anchor the CSU defense in a pair of wins last week as the Vikings won two matches and gave up just one goal to improve to 3-0 in the League for the first time in school history. She also assisted on the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Youngstown State, sending in a free kick that was headed in for a goal in the 75th minute.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS

Samantha Butterbaugh: The cross country sophomore set a personal-best at the All-Ohio Championship, running the 6K course in a time of 23:13.

Nikki Holmes: The volleyball senior recorded her 1,000th career dig in Friday’s win over YSU, becoming the 15th player in school history to reach the milestone.

Jake Lagania: The men’s soccer sophomore netted his team-leading third goal of the season to help CSU earn a point in the League standings in a 1-1 tie with Detroit.
