A LOOK AT WHAT'S HAPPENING

MEN’S BASKETBALL
• CSU (8-20, 3-12 HL) concludes the regular season with three games this week, playing at Green Bay on Monday (Feb. 22) and hosting Northern Kentucky and Wright State on Thursday (Feb. 25) and Saturday (Feb. 27).
• The game against Wright State will be CSU’s fifth and final game at Quicken Loans Arena this year. Senior Vinny Zollo will be honored in a pre-game ceremony for Senior Day.
• The Vikings dropped a pair of games last week, falling to League leading Valparaiso on Tuesday night at The Q and dropping a contest at Milwaukee on Saturday. 

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
• Cleveland State (6-18, 3-11) will host its final homestand of the 2015-16 season this week, hosting UIC on Thursday, February 25 (5:30 p.m.) and Valparaiso on Saturday, February 27 (11:00 a.m.) at Quicken Loans Arena.
• Saturday’s contest will serve as Senior Day for the Vikings, as the team will honor its lone senior – Allison Mitchell – prior to the contest against the Crusaders.
• Head coach Kate Peterson Abiad and her family welcomed daughter Remi Hope to the world on Feb. 18.

MEN’S & WOMEN’S FENCING
• The Vikings return to action at the Midwest Conference Championships on Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 27-28).

MEN’S GOLF
• The Vikings open the spring season on Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 22-23) at the Wexford Intercollegiate.
• CSU has won the last two Horizon League Championships and six of the last 10 overall.
• The Vikings return four of the five players who played at the League championship last season in senior Mitchell Moore, juniors Pat Luth and Paul Minko and sophomore Joey Krecic.

SOFTBALL
• The Vikings (4-5) travel to the Louisville Red & Black Classic for five games this weekend.
• CSU went 1-4 at the Coastal Carolina Classic over the weekend with an 11-2 win over Appalachian State.
• Erica McNew hit .529 (9-17) in the five games and is batting .467 with two homers and nine RBI this year.

MEN’S & WOMEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING
• Cleveland State is set for the 2016 Horizon League Championships this week, which will take place Wednesday, February 24 – Saturday, February 27. This year’s championship is being hosted by Oakland University.
• There will be live results and a live video stream of all sessions at the 2016 Horizon League Championships – links can be found on the men’s swimming and diving schedule page at CSUVikings.com.

MEN’S TENNIS
• Cleveland State will close out the month of February this weekend by hosting Butler on Friday, February 26 (7:00 p.m. @ Paramount Tennis Club), and traveling to Ball State on Sunday, February 28.
• CSU split contests against Buffalo (L, 5-2) and St. Bonaventure (W, 6-1) last week, improving to 6-4 this year.

WOMEN’S TENNIS
• After having a week off from competition, the Vikings will return to the courts this weekend, traveling to Western Michigan (Saturday, February 27) and Michigan State (Sunday, February 28) to close out the month of February.
• Entering the weekend freshman Isabella Spindler leads the Vikings with a 5-1 singles record, while Aleksandra Golawska stands at 4-2 this spring.

WRESTLING
• CSU (8-8, 4-2 EWL) is out of action until the EWL Championships on March 5 at Lock Haven.
• The Vikings split a pair of matches last week, falling to Michigan State and winning at Bloomsburg, 35-6.
• Nick Montgomery, Nathan Wynkoop, Gabe Stark, Sam Wheeler and Riley Shaw all went 2-0 last week.

VIKING OF THE WEEK

Nick Montgomery, Wrestling, Junior, Madison, Ohio

Montgomery won both of his matches over the weekend to help the Vikings split a pair of duals. He earned a 6-2 win at 149 pounds on Friday night and followed that with a 14-2 major decision on Sunday afternoon to help the Vikings to a 35-6 win over Bloomsburg and finish the EWL season with a 4-2 mark.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS

Kevin Goth: The men’s tennis sophomore won both of his matches at No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles to help CSU split two matches over the weekend.

Erica McNew: The softball senior hit .529 (9-17) with one run and three RBI in CSU’s five games at the Coastal Carolina Kickin’ Chicken Classic over the weekend.

Olivia Voskuhl: The women’s basketball junior scored a team-high 16 points to help CSU win at Youngstown State on Saturday and earn a season sweep of the Penguins.
