Viking Sports Weekly (January 13)

Men's Basketball
-Cleveland State (7-11, 3-2) will return to the road this week, traveling to Wright State (January 16) and Northern Kentucky (January 18) for a pair of Horizon League contests.
-Last week, the Vikings capped off a three-game homestand by splitting their games against Detroit Mercy (W, 64-59) and Oakland (L, 68-55), and are off to their best start in Horizon League play since the 2014-15 season.
-In league games only, Craig Beaudion leads the league averaging 6.2 assists per game, while Torrey Patton leads the league with a .580 field goal percentage.

Women's Basketball
-The Vikings (13-3, 3-2) will continue Horizon League play on the road this week, traveling to Detroit Mercy (January 16) and Oakland (January 18).
-Last time out, Cleveland State picked up a 60-52 victory over Youngstown State in its lone game of the week.
-Mariah Miller led the Vikings with 17 points and 11 rebounds against the Penguins, and enters the week leading the Horizon League with a 19.3 scoring average this season.

Fencing
-Cleveland State will have two competitions this weekend as the Vikings head to the Army Invitational Saturday and the Vassar Invitational Sunday.
-The Vikings opened the second semester Sunday at the Detroit Mercy Invitational.
-The CSU men posted a 4-1 mark at the event while the women were 3-3.
-The CSU women lost by a single point to Ohio State (13-14) while their foil unit topped the Buckeyes.

Men's Swimming & Diving
-Cleveland State will be off from competition this week before resuming action on the road January 24-25.
-The Vikings went 1-2 in dual action last week, losing to Miami (Ohio) (136-162) and splitting duals with UIC (141-158, 153-147).
-In their final dual of the week last Saturday, CSU won the final three events to come from behind and top the Flames.
-Sophomore Jack Krusinski won seven individual races over the three dual meets last week.

Women's Swimming & Diving
-Cleveland State will be off from competition this week before resuming action on the road January 24-25.
-The Vikings dropped a dual matchup to Miami (Ohio) this past week before coming up short in two tri-duals featuring IUPUI and UIC.
-Junior Alana Cartwright won three races across the two Horizon League tri-duals last week. 

Wrestling
-Cleveland State will return home this Saturday, January 18, as it hosts Ohio in MAC action at 1:00 p.m.
-The Vikings competed at the VMI Quad Dual this past Friday and posted a 2-1 mark.
-CSU lost to Clarion (15-25) before defeating Cal Baptist (29-10) and the host Keydets (30-6).
-Evan Cheek and Riley Smucker both went 3-0 on the day, with Cheek netting two pins.

Men's Tennis
-Cleveland State will begin its spring campaign this week, traveling to Kentucky on Thursday, January 16 and hosting Toledo and Tiffin on Saturday, January 18.
-Last week, the Vikings were selected as the Horizon League Preseason Favorites, as they enter the year as the two-time defending #HLMTEN Champions.
-Nico Mostardi enters the spring season ranked 65th nationally in the Oracle/ITA Singles Rankings, while he is also seventh on the CSU Singles Wins List with 76 career victories.
-Matthew Terry is also on the CSU Singles Wins, ranking 10th with 69 career wins after posting a team-best 16-2 record during the fall season.

Indoor Track & Field
-The Vikings will continue their indoor slate at the YSU Collegiate Invitational on Friday, January 17.
-Last time out, Cleveland State recorded two first place finishes at the Findlay Open, with Azsah Bradley winning the 60 Meter Dash and Anna Brandt winning the 800 Meter Run.
-Azsah Bradley, who was competing in just her second collegiate meet, posted a program record in the 60 Meter Dash, finishing with a time of 7.68.

Viking Of The Week
Jack Krusinski, Men's Swim & Dive
Krusinski won seven of the nine individual races he contested across three dual meets this past week. He was a perfect 3-for-3 in first-place finishes against Miami (Ohio) and in the first dual at UIC. In his 3-for-3 effort against the Flames, Krusinski won both the 100 and 200 breaststroke by at least two full seconds. He also swam on two winning relays during the week and added a pair of second-place individual finishes.
