CLEVELAND – Cleveland State basketball coach Dennis Gates announced that Alec Oglesby of the program's 2020 recruiting class has enrolled in spring classes at the University and will be able to participate in practice during the spring semester. Classes for the University's spring term start on Jan. 13.
Oglesby, a three-star recruit, graduated from the Rock School in Gainesville, Fla., in December.
"We are thrilled to have Alec join our program and enroll early at Cleveland State University for the spring semester," said Gates. "I'm excited that he will be afforded the opportunity to acclimate to the collegiate environment, academically, athletically and socially. He has a bright future here at Cleveland State and we welcome him as the first member of an outstanding recruiting class."
Oglesby was a member of The Rock School team that captured the Florida state championship in the 2018-19 season.
Oglesby led the Lions in three-point field goal percentage and three-point field goals made during their state championship season. He also earned The Rock Solid Award, which embodies the hardest worker and the standard for the program.
"I want to thank Coach Gates and the coaching staff for the opportunity," said Oglesby. "I'm excited to join my new family here at Cleveland State."
During his junior season, Oglesby earned All-Gainesville honors as well as all-area accolades.
Oglesby earned recognition on the Florida All-State Academic team and is a member of the National High School Mathematics Honor Society.
