"Pieter is the reigning Horizon League Swimmer of the Year and is the greatest backstroker in the school's history. One of our team captains, he is a multiple conference champion in both relays and individual events, he has dominated the backstroke and finished second in the IM last year. He has school records in both the 100 & 200 back along with the 200 & 400 medley relays."

He is the only swimmer in school history to swim the 50, 100, 500, 1,000 and 1,650 distances in the conference in the same year. He is ranked second in the 200, 500 and 1000 in the league and has been a multiple league champion in both individual and relay events."
