A Look At The 2005-06 Seniors

Feb. 20, 2006

Thatcher Carr
Russell, Ohio
"Thatcher is not only a great diver but a great person. He puts TEAM before individual. He enjoys being part of a team, and spends as much time with the swimmers as the divers. As one of our captains, he sets a great example for being unselfish. In practice, he is the type of guy that brings out the best in everyone and is a pleasure to work with."

Mark Dilillo
Novelty, Ohio
"Mark represents a true love for swimming. Five years ago , he walked on the team and has practiced every year since, competing for his fourth year straight. Very few athletes can be on a Division I swim team for five years. He has built relationships over the years that will last a lifetime."

Brian Klausner
Lyndhurst, Ohio
"Brian has been one of our top breaststrokers on the team for the past several years and is truly liked by all his teammates. It is extremely tough to swim for four years at the Division I level and Brian has accomplished that. All the while, he has maintained a level of excellence in the classroom, regularly appearing on the Dean's List."

Kirsty McKechnie
Durban, South Africa
"Kirsty is one of our captains this year. She is a quiet leader who lets her results speak for her. She holds the school record in 1,000 free, as well as the 800 free relay and 400 medley. She has been our top distance swimmer since her arrival. As a student, she is a member of the Dean's List and a recipient of the Athletic Academic Excellence Award in 2005."

Steven Ondercin
Mayfield Heights, Ohio
"Steve epitomizes the unselfish community service ideals of CSU and the Horizon League. A freestyler who has swam all the distances, he has been one of our captains for the past two years. Steve is Vice-President of SAAC and has been instrumental in the community service relationship with Marian Sterling Elementary School."

Wendy Peel
Centerville, Ohio
"Wendy is one of our captains this season. She is a strong leader who lets very little stand in her way of achieving goals. She has been a major contributor in back and freestyle events since her freshman season and was a member of the record-breaking 800 free relay team. She is a member of the Dean's List and was a recipient of the Athletic Academic Excellence Award in 2005."

Pieter Pelser
Krugersdorp, South Africa
"Pieter is the reigning Horizon League Swimmer of the Year and is the greatest backstroker in the school's history. One of our team captains, he is a multiple conference champion in both relays and individual events, he has dominated the backstroke and finished second in the IM last year. He has school records in both the 100 & 200 back along with the 200 & 400 medley relays."

Daniel Thomasson
Sodertalje, Sweden
"Daniel is one of the most successful and versatile freestyle swimmers in CSU history. He is the only swimmer in school history to swim the 50, 100, 500, 1,000 and 1,650 distances in the conference in the same year. He is ranked second in the 200, 500 and 1000 in the league and has been a multiple league champion in both individual and relay events."

Nicole Reddout
Las Vegas, Nev.
"Nicole's determination sets her apart from many others as evident in her performance at the Horizon League Championship following in-season shoulder surgery. It is that determination which she exhibits as a student, where she has received the Academic Award of Excellence in 2005, and will continue to exhibit as she heads into dentistry school."

Adam Wroblewski
Parma, Ohio
"Adam walked onto to the swim team and has become one of the top sprinters over the past three years. A member of the league 200 free relay team for the past two years, he has scored points in all of his events. He is the best of what a student-athlete should be: a student first who uses swimming as a break from the rigors of engineering while still striving to be the best."
