2004-05 - Junior Season
Named 2004-05 Horizon League Swimmer of the Year as he
successfully defended his Horizon League crowns in both the 100 and
200 backstroke races...established a new school record in the 100
back (49.71) at the conference meet while setting the 200 back
(1:47.84) record at the Miami Invitational (12/5)...both marks
stood as the best times in the league...member of conference
champion 400 medley relay team and second-place 200 medley
unit...the 200 medley relay team established a new school-record
time (1:31.99)...lowered career-best in 200 IM (1:52.49) en route
to finishing second in the event at the conference
championships...named first team All-Horizon League in the 100
back, 200 back and 400 medley relay as well as collecting second
team laurels in the 200 IM.
2003-04 - Sophomore Season
Horizon League Champion in 100 (50.06) and 200 backstroke
(1:48.70)...recorded then school records in both the 100 back
(50.02) and 200 back (1:48.29)...both marks were also league top
times...held the team's second-best time in the 200 IM (1:53.73)
and the third-best in the 100 fly (52.52)...finished first or
second in 18 of 25 events, with 14 wins...member of the Horizon
League champion and record-setting 400 medley relay
team...represented South Africa in the 2004 World Cup at Long
Island, N.Y.
2002-03 - Freshman Season
Joined the Vikings in January and made an immediate impact by
winning the 200 backstroke title at the Horizon League
Championships...broke the school record in the 200 back (1:48.62)
and posted the team's second fastest time in the 100 back
(50.97)...placed 10th in the 200 meter back at the 2003 Mare
Nostrum Swimming championships in Barcelona, Spain, representing
South Africa.
High School
His team won the Free State High School swimming championships
all four years...holds high school records in the 50, 100, and 200
backstrokes...was part of the 2001 Junior National Team that swam
against Brazil...competed for Mr. Price Seagulls...represented
South Africa at the World Cup in New York, finishing ninth in the
200 back and 14th in the 100 back.
