CLEVELAND - Marianne Lionell tallied a pair of wins for the Vikings, while Kirsty McKechnie and Samantha Jones added one apiece Friday (Feb. 4) night as CSU outscored Youngstown State, 129-108. The CSU output was not enough to handle Wright State, however, as the Raiders claimed a 142-81 win at Busbey Natatorium.

Lionell swam to a win in the 100 freestyle in a swift 52.48, a second-and-a-half better than runner-up Svetlana Nepocatych. She also added a win in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:25.20.

McKechnie produced a strong showing in the 1,000 free with a time of 10:31.50, out-racing runner-up Catalina Martinez of WSU by over seven seconds. She also finished second in both the 200 free (1:56.73) and the 200 fly (2:13.68).

Jones scored a win in the 200 IM with a time of 2:11.15, and added a second-place showing in the 500 free (5:11.50).

Wendy Peel added a runner-up mark in the 200 back with a 2:11.02 time, while Deanna Raedel placed second in the 50 free (24.98).

"We knew what to expect from both teams coming into this meet," head women's coach Mike Lehto said. "We had to switch our lineup around a bit to focus on YSU, and that cost us against Wright State. Overall, though, I was pleased with this meet. We had a lot of good swims even though they were swimming different events. They really came through today."

CSU will host UIC tomorrow afternoon (Feb. 5) beginning at 2:00 p.m. Before the meet, the five Viking seniors - Tina Abbott, Jones, Angie Malloy, Marlene Przykling and Sarah Sweitzer - will be honored for their contributions to the team for the last four seasons.
