CLEVELAND- The Cleveland State Vikings' swimming and diving program is excited to announce the addition of 16 incoming newcomers for the 2013-14 season.
CLEVELAND- The Cleveland State Vikings officially concluded a stellar 2012-13 campaign this past weekend, as the women's squad celebrated together at the team's annual year-end banquet.
CHIAGO- The Cleveland State Vikings' women's swimming and diving squad completed an outstanding 2012-13 season Saturday night, placing second at the year-ending Horizon League Championships held at UIC.
CHICAGO-The Cleveland State Vikings' women's swimming and diving team ended Friday night in first place in the team standings at the Horizon League Championships for the third straight night, holding onto a 487.5-478 lead over second place Milwaukee.
CHICAGO- The Cleveland State Vikings' women's swimming team continued to swim strong on the second day of the Horizon League Championships Thursday evening, holding onto the top spot in the team standings halfway through the Championships.
CHICAGO-While the CSU women didn't bring home any wins on Wednesday, they had impressive balanced showings all evening long on day one of the 2013 Horizon League Championships at UIC.
SETTING THE SCENE: The Cleveland State Vikings will head to Chicago this week for the season-ending Horizon League Championships, Wednesday through Saturday at UIC.
CHICAGO- In a meet that came down to the final event of the day, the Cleveland State women's 400 freestyle relay of Christine Kopacko, Gretchen Hestley, Jamie Puls, and Alexandra Johansson came through clutch, holding off the UIC Flames to help CSU win a 125-118 battle in Horizon League action.
SETTING THE SCENE: The Cleveland State Vikings enter their final weekend of regular season competition as they head to UIC for Horizon League action Saturday at 2:00 p.m. ET. The men enter the meet 12-3-1, while the women are 11-4 on the year.
INDIANOPOLIS- For the first time this season Cleveland State Viking's senior Alice Sommerville (Methven, New Zealand) was named the Horizon League's female `Swimmer of the Week' this week.
Akron, OHIO- Freshman Jodi Turk picked up a new school record and senior Alice Sommervillepicked up three wins but unfortunately for the Vikings it wasn't enough Saturday afternoon as Cleveland State fell 144-156 to the University of Akron.
SETTING THE SCENE:The Cleveland State Vikings' women's swimming and diving team will be on the road this weekend when they head to Akron University to take on the Zips at 1:00 p.m. The CSU women are heading into the weekend with an 11-3 record on the year, while Akron enters the meet 2-4.
CLEVELAND- The Cleveland State Vikings' women's team improved to 11-3 on the year this afternoon with two dominating home Senior Day wins. The Vikings defeated Wright State 213.5-86.5, while also taking down Youngstown State 204-96.
CLEVELAND- The Cleveland State Vikings' women's swimming team improved to 9-3 on the year this afternoon, after splitting two home contests between the Oakland Grizzlies and the Xavier Musketeers at a tri-meet.
SETTING THE SCENE: The Vikings' full squads will be back in the pool this week in collegiate competition as both the men and women will host Oakland and Xavier at home at the Robert F. Busbey Natatorium Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
Grand Cayman Islands- With the winter holiday break, swimming teams around the country often get a chance to travel and compete. The Cleveland State Vikings were no different as both the men's and women's team traveled to the Grand Cayman Islands for the Green Turtle Invitational.
Grand Cayman Islands- The Cleveland State Vikings' swimming and diving teams will be participating in a once in a lifetime experience this weekend, as both the men's and women's squads will be swimming at the Green Turtle Invitational in the Grand Cayman Islands.
Cleveland, Ohio- The Cleveland State Vikings' swimming and diving program has grown, with three athletes recently signing National Letters of Intent to join the program for the 2013-14 swim season. Two male swimmers, Patrick Walsh (Muskego, WI) and Robert Tolson (North Canton, Ohio), as well as one female swimmer, Meghan Miller (Hershey, PA), have joined the program.
SETTING THE SCENE: The Vikings full squads will be back in the pool this week as CSU hosts the College Cup Dual Meet Invitational Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. The four teams alongside Cleveland State that will be competing will be Canisius, Case Western, John Carroll, and Notre Dame (Ohio).
Cleveland, Ohio- The Cleveland State Vikings' women's swimming team went a perfect 4-0 Tuesday night, taking home big victories at the Cleveland College Dual Meet Invitational at Cleveland State. The Vikings took down Canisius, Case Western, John Carroll, and Notre Dame (Ohio).
Austin, Texas- After the completion of the first two days of the AT@T Winter National Championship in Austin, Texas the Cleveland State Vikings swim team had accomplished multiple top times and history making performances, making it a tall order for the day three participants to live up to.
Austin, Texas- Following a history making day on day one of the AT@T National Championships, the Cleveland State Vikings followed up with another record on day two of the Championships at the University of Texas.
Austin, Texas- When a meet is comprised of Olympic swimming household names from Ryan Lochte to Missy Franklin there can be large amount of pressure to perform well and step up competing against the best swimmers in the world.
SETTING THE SCENE: The Vikings will hit the road this week as both the men's and women's teams will be taking swimmers to the AT@T Winter National Championship in Austin, Texas from November 29th through December 1st.
