KENT, Ohio - Cleveland State jumped out to a two-game lead at Kent State, only to watch the Golden Flashes rally for a 27-30, 26-30, 30-25, 30-23, 15-12 victory on Monday night. The loss drops the Vikings to 17-9 on the year, while KSU improves to 9-17.
CSU hit .310 en route to claiming the first two games, but managed just a .136 hitting percentage the rest of the way. The Flashes tallied 21 more kills (85-64) and 10 more digs (91-81) for the match, while the Vikings held small advantages in hitting percentage (.216 to .207) and blocks (10 to 6).
Emily Clark paced a balanced CSU offensive attack with 12 kills and 18 digs. Jenni Ramminger posted 11 kills on 16 attempts without an error for a .688 hitting percentage. Danielle Siefker and Nickole Kennedy added 12 and 11 kills respectively. Mel Snyder notched a double-double with 57 assists and 13 digs, while Alisa Hatcher had a team-high 21 digs.
Kent State's Danielle Holt put together an impressive double-double, finishing with a match-high 26 kills and 20 digs. Sarah Wilber added 18 kills, while Laura Jensen added a match-best 25 digs.
Cleveland State closes out the regular season with a trip to Chicago over the weekend. The Vikings will battle UIC on Friday, Nov. 11, followed by a match at Loyola the next afternoon. CSU can wrap up the second seed in the upcoming Horizon League Championship with one victory and possibly a share of the regular season title with two wins.
