Final Stats

CLEVELAND - Cleveland State posted its 14th sweep of the season, blanking Butler 30-27, 30-13, 33-31 on Saturday afternoon in Woodling Gymnasium. With the win, the Vikings remain in fourth place in the Horizon League at 7-6, while improving to 17-8 overall. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs fall to 8-19, 3-9.

The teams were nearly equal in every stat category except offensive execution where CSU dominated -- posting 22 more kills (58 to 36) en route to out-hitting Butler .279 to .134. The Vikings rallied from a 22-17 deficit in game one and a 24-21 hole in the final frame, while dominating play in game two.

"I was glad to see us come back and play well after an emotional loss last night," CSU head coach Chuck Voss said. "We were able to stay in system and run our offense for most of the night and Beth [Greulich] had another solid match for us."

Freshman Liz Fazio tallied a match-high 18 kills and eight digs, while freshman Beth Greulich tallied 15 kills on .538 hitting. Senior Danielle Siefker posted 10 kills and sophomore Jordan Bateman added a match-best 20 digs.

Porshia Allen led Butler with 10 kills.

Cleveland State closes out the regular season next Friday (Nov. 10) when the Vikings host Youngstown State at 7:00 p.m. Seniors Margot Frederick and Danielle Siefker will be honored in a pre-match ceremony.
