Final Stats

CLEVELAND - Cleveland State rallied from two games down before falling to Wright State, 39-37, 30-25, 21-30, 17-30, 15-13, on Friday night in Woodling Gymnasium. The loss drops the Vikings to 16-8 overall and 6-6 in the Horizon League, while the Raiders improve to 14-13, 8-3.

The match started with CSU's second-longest game in the six years since rally score was initiated -- a frame that featured 23 ties -- and ended with the Vikings losing for the second straight match by a 15-13 score in the fifth game.

"We were emotionally dead after the first game and let it affect the way we played in game two," CSU head coach Chuck Voss said. "However, I was happy with how we responded, because we could have mailed it in after the second game. We have to stop playing hesitantly at times."

Senior Danielle Siefker and freshman Beth Greulich both recorded a career-high 19 kills to lead CSU, while freshman Liz Fazio notched 14 kills and 12 digs for her sixth double-double of the season. Junior Mel Snyder tallied 65 assists and a career-high 19 digs, while sophomore Jordan Bateman paced the team with 24 digs.

Jenny Schultz led Wright State with 17 kills and 18 digs, while Alisha Kimbro notched 12 kills and 18 digs. Lexi Leonhard led all players with 29 digs.

Cleveland State had huge advantages in kills (80 to 59) and hitting percentage (.200 to .127) and slight leads in aces (9 to 7) and digs (99 to 95), but that did not translate to the scoreboard.
